How to Start Publishing in One Day or Less!

Sidebar Sample Code:
Coding your own sidebar is simple. I have created a sample sidebar commented with detailed instructions for creating your code.
CLICK HERE to VIEW the sample sidebar.
CLICK HERE to see the code for the sample sidebar.

You can SAVE a copy of this text document to your hard drive and modify it to suit your needs. (Note: If the .txt file comes up in your web browser instead of in Notepad or Wordpad, use the browser View Source option then do a SAVE AS to a filename of your choosing onto your hard drive.) Remember, you will need to have a hosting account in order to upload this file. Free webspace provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) will suffice. The address of the uploaded page should be entered into the url for Sidebar field in the settings panel. You may need to adjust the Frame Height for Sidebar field to a higher number if the entire sidebar does not display in the sidebar area. If you want a customs sidebar, but don't want to code it yourself, visit the KickTheEmailHabit.com Channel Management page.

Basic Item Template:
If you have basic HTML knowledge, you can use this template to build your item posts. This saves time because once you know the template, you just have the title, logo, resource box format and copyright statements in place and need only enter the actual title and text for the item or article you're posting.

You can SAVE a copy of this text document to your hard drive with an HTML extension and modify it to suit your needs. (Note: If the .txt file comes up in your web browser instead of in Notepad or Wordpad, use the browser View Source option then do a SAVE AS to a filename of your choosing onto your hard drive.) Hint: Create a folder on your harddrive to store copies of each item you post. When you have modified the template to suit your needs, save it under another name and keep that copy clean. You can copy that file and rename it (copy/rename or edit/save as) for each item you post. I use a date based naming convention, such as 20040730_Article_Author_Title.htm . This way I have a backup copy of every item I post just in case I need them later.

Hex codes for Current Channel Skin Colors:

Color Picker:
Need more color choices???
You can find a pop-up color picker in the Tools & Training section of the Q Member/Publisher menu area. If you can't find the color you want there, there are dozens of color choices HERE. Find a color you like, grab the hexadecimal code for that color and use it to customize your sidebar or channel. You can use these hex codes in the font color parameter to change the color of your text, in the bgcolor parameter of the body or table tags to customize the background colors in the main (body) or tabled areas of your webpage or sidebar. (HINT: You CAN treat the main body of your channel as a table so you can control the background color of your item posts. Just be sure to CLOSE all table tags - table, tr, td - to avoid bleed over to the rest of the page.

HTML Cheat Sheet:
You can find a pop-up of common HTML tags in the Tools & Training section of the Q Member/Publisher menu area. CLICK HERE for another HTML CHEATSHEET.
