Question & Answer Time!
Hi everyone!
If you chose to visit Quikonnex to view this ebook
(I call it a Q-book!), you're getting a bonus!
After receiving several questions from other readers,
I decided to open up a Q&A page. If you have any
questions related to the mechanics of signing up for
a channel or setting up your channel, please post a comment
to this page and I'll respond in the comments section.
That way, others will benefit from this information and
I can eventually compile a FAQ's (frequently asked questions)
page to go with any future releases of this book.
I look forward to your input and feedback!
Cathy Carlton
Question:
I have setup my channel, but the text area is too wide. What's wrong?
Answer:
The first thing you should do is check the size of any graphics you used. It's best to keep them under 400 pixels wide. You can use a basic image editor to resize the logo if needed. Another possibility is that you have used tables in HTML code you pasted into an item on the channel. Check to make sure that the table width is no more than 400 or so and that all tags are closed properly.
Question:
I copy/pasted my article into my item entry panel, but when I submit it, all the text just runs together. What happened?
Answer:
Depending on how you plan to use the channel, you will either need to update your settings or alway use the break tags <br> to force line breaks. If you don't know HTML and don't plan to use it, modify your channel settings to always recognize line breaks. Here's how:
logon to the members area
go to the QMembers / Publishers area
choose the Channel Manager selection
choose Your Channels.
On the resulting page, click on the SETTINGS link
scroll down and find the setting titled Convert Line Breaks
Click the YES radio button.
This will preserve line breaks (returns, paragraphs, etc) when you copy/paste straight text into the page. Hope this helps.
Question:
How do I include audio files in my channel?
Answer:
If you just want the viewer to be able to click on the link to open the file, use the HYPERLINK option if using the WYSIWYG editor or code the following where you want the link to appear:
If you want the audio to play when your channel is opened, use the embed tag:
Question:
What is that bunch of links on the right hand side of the channel (not the categories...below that with links to your websites) and how do I get mine?
Answer:
That's called a sidebar. Find out more about this feature in Chapter 7. There's more info and a template in the Appendix.
