I was first abused at the age of four, by a middle-aged, mentally retarded member of my own family. I kept the secret verbally, but I drew pictures. I began drawing pictures of men with penises sticking out straight, but my mother never questioned it. To this day, she has those pictures I drew forty years ago, but in that time she never thought them to be significant.
I was a troubled teen. By the age of 12, I had been molested by another family member, but didn't realize that what he had done to me was wrong, I thought I was grown up, so I kept the secret. I thought that if anyone found out, it would become a bad thing and I didn't want to have my family frown upon me for it.
At the age of 13, yet another family member attempted to rape me, but I fought back. I told on him, but my family didn't belive me and my attacker, when confronted, made it my fault; saying that I tried to come on to him. Remember, I was 13 years old; he was my father's father. Everyone chalked it up to my being a troubled teen.
After telling on him, my parents abandoned me. No one in my family, nor my psychologist, ever reported the crime. I was shunned by my father's side of the family.
The abuse in my life goes way back and shaped me in ways that would take years to overcome. I did overcome! Let me share with you, my story, and show you how there are no ends to the possibilities. Anyone, at any time, can change the circumstances of their own lives. I did it. You only need to know what you want, and go after it. Learn to love yourself enough to allow yourself to be happy in your life. I went from miserable waif to Wonder Woman/Super Mom!
