We concluded that ultimately -- whether you're developing a lifetime customer or working with a potential business builder -- the "connection" is the key. </p> <p>People buy from -- and do business with -- people they know, like and trust. <br />This has never been more true than it is today. </p> <p>So if there is a secret... and there are many... this is it. Spend time with your customers and prospects building rapport -- developing the relationship. Work at being real and authentic -- never phony -- and never pushy. Understand that it's not about you... it's really all about them. Stay in touch, offer to help them reach their goals -- regardless of how large or small they are. </p> <p>Pick up the phone and call them from time to time. Not to ask for another order -- but just to say hello and ask if you can help them in any way.
