So I'm trying to consolidate, streamline and otherwise simplify my life.<br><br> I'm in the process of building a new website to combine my gifts/collectibles/decor site, jewelry site/channel, and photography website. So far, I have transferred (aka rebuilt) the gifts/collectibles/decor portion that was on this channel and CarltonsGifts.com and the photography products that were on CarltonsPhoto.com. The new site is <a href="http://www.ccirockport.com" target="_blank">CCIRockport.com</a>. <br><br> We now have the retail gift shop as well as a new addition. We had attempted to get our custom frame shop going at home, but we're just a bit far out of the comfort zone of some of most of the locals. In Sept 2006, we rented another shop in Waterstreet Mall, where we opened our retail frame shop in October. For now, you can see more about the frame shop at <a href="http://www.carltonsframing.com" target="_blank">CarltonsFraming.com</a>, but I'll soon be moving that new site over to the newer <a href="http://www.ccirockport.com" target="_blank">CCIRockport.com</a>. <br><br> I've had so much going on in my regular job, then on my own clock I do the books, ordering, pricing, some shelf stocking, jewelry making, helping with framing when that side gets busy (as we like it!), website maintenance and...well, you know. It just snowballs and each thing you take on adds more work, more complexity and sucks more time away from your day.<br><br> Then the household projects - planned and not - get worked in based on criticality. We have accomplished nary a one of the projects we had planned to get done on the house during the winter before it gets too hot to breathe!<br><br> Don't get me wrong, I love it here in Rockport, but I spend from about 6:30am til ??? pm on the computer for my day job, then just keep the ever-expanding backside right in the same seat, switch keyboards, and pick up on the home businesses. <br><br> There's a lesson to be learned in all of this. Don't spread yourself too thin or you get nowhere fast! First, we're able to devote more time and effort to our gift shop and our jewelry has been very popular. Second, we've been able to build a workshop on our own property to serve as our frame shop. We've been amassing equipment and supplies for several years and now we're almost ready to open the doors. George is officially "retired" so he'll have time to devote to the new business. If you're in the Rockport area, watch for our Grand Opening over the next month or so! <br><br> We've decided, also, to expand our horizons a bit and open an eBay store - <a href="http://stores.ebay.com/Carltons-Trading-Post" target="_blank">Carlton's Trading Post</a>. It gives me a little time away from my PC and gives my husband a clear view of the TV for a while! <br><br> It started innocently as a single purchase of a "gotta have" stone pendant from eBay, but it has quickly blossomed into a passion for beads. Of course, once you start buying them, you have to do something, right? <br><br> Okay, I admit it. Jewelry making may be a strange past-time for a geekette, but I really do have a creative side. I also enjoy oil painting, pastel painting, photography and I even dabble in silk floral arrangement (another recent hobby). So don't be frightened away thinking this is techno-geek jewelry! <br><br> I started working with glass beads. Those pieces are fine, but I have found that I really prefer working with natural stones, semi-precious gems, bone, coral and wood. <br><br> Guys, don't think this is a girly site. My favorite creations are those I have made for my husband. I just love the warm, rich tones and the combinations that are possible with wood, bone, coral, obsidian, onyx and the darker varieties of jasper. Besides, I love the pride with which my husband wears my creations. <br><br> You won't find any commercial, mass-produced jewelry here. All of my jewelry is handmade. I use only top-quality stringing materials. With the exception of the organza ribbon chokers, most necklaces are made with strong nylon over wire beading wire and all sterling silver rings, clasps, bails, posts, etc. Some of my creations are made with glass beads, but you'll find most of them are made with jasper, sodalite, lapis, coral, bone, onyx, unakite, sardonyx, goldstone, and other natural beads. <br><br> Payment is via PayPal. The $5.50 Flat rate shipping per item includes Priority Mail Delivery with Insurance. If you wish to purchase multiple items to be delivered to the same location, please contact me for a shipping quote. <br><br> These are top-quality products that will not be mass-produced. I'll be adding some of my pieces out here soon.
