I keep reading articles and seeing news stories where the Republicans are screaming about the over burdened rich tax payers. Over burdened, how? Do they cringe at the thought of filling their gas tanks, wonder where their next meal is coming from, how they can afford to take their kids to the dentist, or pay the mortgage? I don't think so. The people who have these types of stresses in their daily lives are the middle-class; the people who haven't the tax loop holes to jump through. The people who paid for Wall Street to keep its doors open. When was the last time they had to pay for a loaf of bread with nickels and dimes?

Last night, while watching the Speaker of the House give his press conference on the budget, I wanted to leap through the television and slap him silly after his statement that the budget is not in revenue crisis it is a spending issue. I say Bullshit! It is a revenue issue. None of the corporate giants, who are raking in billion dollar profits are paying any taxes. If we'd make them pay taxes, we would not need to cut the things we hold near and dear, like social programs. The problem is a revenue short fall, not over spending.

All around the world, people are revolting against tyranny. Governments are toppling and the status quo is losing its battle with change. The people are sick and tired of being sick and tired.

The powers that be continue to argue over the best way to put our economy back on track. We have identified the problems, many that they are, but the arguing happens over what to do to fix them, with no end in sight. I don't understand the dilemma. The solution seems painfully obvious to me. Tea Partiers are screaming for deficit reduction, but they are attempting to cut the very life blood of our system in an effort to reign in the deficit. Social security and Medicare are not the places to to repair our economy. First of all, those responsible for this melt down should be made to pay for their irresponsibility. Make those who have profited from this economic mudslide pay for their ill gotten gains. Stealing money is against the law in this country, yet it appears as though those running the banks have been given license to do just that: rip off John Q. Public and go to the beach. That is the first thing that has to change.

Terrorists have won this one. While our borders remain open, our government has begun harassing holiday travelers with invasive body scanning and pat-downs at our airports. We have become a nation bound by fear, yet we do not take the appropriate action. Terrorists serve up fear and we've, as a nation, have taken a huge serving. Their goal was to make us afraid and they have succeeded in that goal. In America, everyone is suspect and that is not what this country is supposed to be about.

There is a whole segment of society that no one is talking about in the media frenzy over Social Security. Women who elect to stay home and raise children. These women work a full time job for at least 18 years running, and get no paycheck and no retirement. What is worse is that should they suffer a disability, they cannot collect SSDI, because they have not been punching a time clock.

What a week this has been! My emotional fortitude was yet again put to the test. Sometimes, being a mom is an awfully tough job. High stress on steroids, type hard.
