I keep reading articles and seeing news stories where the Republicans are screaming about the over burdened rich tax payers. Over burdened, how? Do they cringe at the thought of filling their gas tanks, wonder where their next meal is coming from, how they can afford to take their kids to the dentist, or pay the mortgage? I don't think so. The people who have these types of stresses in their daily lives are the middle-class; the people who haven't the tax loop holes to jump through. The people who paid for Wall Street to keep its doors open. When was the last time they had to pay for a loaf of bread with nickels and dimes?

Last night, while watching the Speaker of the House give his press conference on the budget, I wanted to leap through the television and slap him silly after his statement that the budget is not in revenue crisis it is a spending issue. I say Bullshit! It is a revenue issue. None of the corporate giants, who are raking in billion dollar profits are paying any taxes. If we'd make them pay taxes, we would not need to cut the things we hold near and dear, like social programs. The problem is a revenue short fall, not over spending.

All around the world, people are revolting against tyranny. Governments are toppling and the status quo is losing its battle with change. The people are sick and tired of being sick and tired.

The powers that be continue to argue over the best way to put our economy back on track. We have identified the problems, many that they are, but the arguing happens over what to do to fix them, with no end in sight. I don't understand the dilemma. The solution seems painfully obvious to me. Tea Partiers are screaming for deficit reduction, but they are attempting to cut the very life blood of our system in an effort to reign in the deficit. Social security and Medicare are not the places to to repair our economy. First of all, those responsible for this melt down should be made to pay for their irresponsibility. Make those who have profited from this economic mudslide pay for their ill gotten gains. Stealing money is against the law in this country, yet it appears as though those running the banks have been given license to do just that: rip off John Q. Public and go to the beach. That is the first thing that has to change.

Terrorists have won this one. While our borders remain open, our government has begun harassing holiday travelers with invasive body scanning and pat-downs at our airports. We have become a nation bound by fear, yet we do not take the appropriate action. Terrorists serve up fear and we've, as a nation, have taken a huge serving. Their goal was to make us afraid and they have succeeded in that goal. In America, everyone is suspect and that is not what this country is supposed to be about.

There is a whole segment of society that no one is talking about in the media frenzy over Social Security. Women who elect to stay home and raise children. These women work a full time job for at least 18 years running, and get no paycheck and no retirement. What is worse is that should they suffer a disability, they cannot collect SSDI, because they have not been punching a time clock.

What a week this has been! My emotional fortitude was yet again put to the test. Sometimes, being a mom is an awfully tough job. High stress on steroids, type hard.

In a day and age where everyone is giving lip service to the Constitution, I am amazed at the censorship being permitted by our government. Actually, the government is responsible for this censorship. What I am referring to is the ban on books by public schools and libraries. I just read a list of currently banned books and it blew me away! Some of these books were required reading when I was a high school student.

Some of you may have been wondering what I've been up to lately, since it has been quite some time since my last post. Well, I apologize for my silence, and I am going to share with you the reason for it.

What is the deal here? Giving all of these people amnesty would be like opening prisons and saying, 'We know you broke the law, but it's okay; go about your business.' They broke the law to gain access to this country; therefore, they are criminals and should be deported. Period.

Do we want our country filled with criminals who would take our jobs away? I don't think so. Even if they are law abiding once they get here, the fact remains that they became criminals in crossing our border. Send them back where they came from. With U.S. corporations sending jobs to Mexico, they should have little trouble finding work in their country of origin.

I just recently built a house and was mortified by the fact that most of the fixtures I put in there had come from countries not our own. American Standard plumbing fixtures are made in Mexico. That sounds a bit oxy moronic to me. American Standard, product of Mexico. Everything that came from an off shore manufacturing plant had to be returned and exchanged for another product due to faulty manufacturing. Okay, the toilets worked the first time.

I don't understand how we can send all our jobs to other countries and still have an illegal immigration problem. Why are they coming here when our jobs are there?

Get rid of these people. They are criminals and do not belong here. I have no problem with those who would immigrate through proper channels, but giving amnesty to all of these people is wrong. It sends the message that it is okay to break U.S. law.

The last time amnesty was offered, we experienced a huge influx of more illegals. They had little to fear because those who had come before them were granted amnesty, and it will happen that way again if we give amnesty again.

If I want to travel outside this country, I have to get a passport and go through all of the hoops; why are these people being treated so special? If I snuck into Mexico, I'd languish in one of their prisons until being deported; should I live that long. Why are we so forgiving of others when no one is forgiving of us?

My ancestors came here, learned the language and even changed their name. They got jobs and raised families, but they did it through legal channels. Why can't these people do the same? My ancestors didn't soak up government money to be housed, clothed and fed, but these people do. They are taking food from the mouths of those who were born and raised here.

Amnesty is a travesty. Mr. President, if you give amnesty to these people, you will not get my vote next election. I live in the American southwest and there are more people here that speak Spanish than English. I've seen Mexican Nationals, in orange jail jump suits,housed because the court could not provide them with a translator to explain the criminal process to them. They come up here and take our money. The government supports them with our tax dollars. That is wrong! Spend sometime in my neck of the woods and ask the people how they feel about amnesty.

If I were to sneak into Korea, I'd be shot on sight. If a woman sneaks across the border and has a baby, that baby is just as illegal as she is. She is responsible for that child being here and she broke the law coming here. Period, end of story. You can't break up a family, so send them all home.

The memories I have of my father fit in a shoe box, along with a hundred other photos of my early childhood. My parents divorced when I was five-years-old, and that is pretty much where my fond memories end.

Why is Death So Scary?

In this modern world, we have developed science and technology to prolong life, and cure illnesses that used to be terminal. But to what end? In the effort to live longer, we have caused undue strain on the planet we call home. What is the point in living longer if the planet dies before we do?

I keep seeing articles and interviews about oil. I am perplexed by them. Why, if we need to reduce or eliminate our reliance on oil/fossil fuels, are we spending money on drilling for oil? Why are we spending money debating the issue?

Manufacturing in the United States was at its peak during and right after the second World War. Sadly, it has been declining ever since. The biggest reason for this is that American corporations are setting up shop (manufacturing plants) in places other than on American soil. American manufacturing jobs are being sent overseas to places where the people will work harder for less money. Workers in Mexico and China are cheap, almost slave labor. Often they work in conditions not fit for animals, which is fundamentally wrong. Corporate America does not care.

Religion and Politics Don't Mix
Why is it that one cannot seem to have a political discussion without someone dragging religion into it these days? Politics and religion don't mix; that was the whole reason our founding fathers left England to start this country, yet religion gets dragged into the political arena all of the time.

I personally do not subscribe to any party affiliation; I vote my conscience, and for the best person for the job, but I firmly disassociate myself from the Republican party.

What is the point of immigration reform? We already have laws on the books related to immigration that are not being enforced, so what is the point of creating new laws? Laws are only as effective as the enforcement of them. It would seem to me that the solution is not to draft new laws, but to enforce the laws we already have.

Are You One of Them?
There seems to be a fascination, these days, with The End of the World. One can't channel surf without finding some documentary on the subject. Hollywood is cashing in on the craze by producing movies about it.

I understand the premise behind the Pro-Life movement, but I don't understand why those same people are against teens learning about birth control. Society pushes sex in the media and Hollywood glorifies promiscuity, but these same people turn around and are saying don't teach kids how to avoid unwanted pregnancy. That is sending a mixed message to kids.

In a time when there are more people who are poor than rich, when governments are running in the red, and people are suffering for lack of health care, what in the world is going on with our politicians?

Over the years, cigarettes have gotten an increasingly bad rap. Cigarettes cause cancer, has been the major cry from the non-smoking public. News reports claim that cigarettes contain cancer causing chemicals.

Whereas I don't doubt that cigarette smoking can lead to lung cancer, I became curious as to what these deadly chemicals are, and why they are used.

Anyone can see that there is a definite over population problem within the prison system here in the U.S.. Politicians talk about it, law makers have brought it to the table and brushed it aside, and some foolish men in power, actually decided that the solution to the dilemma would be to offer 'early release' to quite a few prisoners. I'm not talking about petty criminals either. All the pot smokers doing time are still doing it; violent criminals have been put through 'early release. Let me say that another way... Violent criminals have been freed to walk among us.

I recently read an article regarding bad parenting. One thing that was brought up in the piece was that it was not a good idea to try to be your child's friend. The piece went on to state that attempting to be your child's friend was a major failing of parents of my generation. I beg to differ.

Just before Christmas, I was desperately in need of some feel-good music. I am not one to listen to Christmas music, and I'm not real into the popular music of today, so I took it upon myself to purchase a Christmas gift for myself. I knew what I needed and went to Amazon.com to get it.

Yesterday I experienced the power of the Law of Attraction. Earlier in the week, I was in a terrible car accident, which both my mother and I walked away from, but the car was totaled.

Yesterday I was involved in a car accident.

My mother and I were returning from our monthly grocery shopping in Grand Junction (110 miles from home), when I hit a patch of ice that sent us head first into a house sized boulder. If the rock hadn't stopped us, I would have been able to navigate back to the road.

I am grateful that neither of us were seriously hurt.

I am grateful for all of the people who stopped to help or get help. They drove for miles to get to a place where they could call for help, being that there is no cell service or even CB reception in the canyon.

I am grateful that my son stayed home to go to school, rather than making the trip with us.

I am grateful for the deputy that stayed with us until the tow truck came for the car. He drove us home later.

I am grateful for the tow truck driver who, before taking my car to the salvage yard, brought it by my house so that we could retrieve the groceries I had bought that day.

I am grateful for my insurance company, who will take care of everything except the first $500.00.

I am grateful for seatbelts. The air bags didn't work. They stayed in their hiding place.

Being the luckiest woman alive is no small matter. There are plenty of women out there who have more tangible possessions than I, more education, or higher position; but are they grateful for it? Or, do they take it for granted? Have the trappings of their lives trapped them into complacency?

Before you write about someone, whether you like them, or even know them personally, you must do research on your subject. Without proper research, you could unwittingly assert incorrect information, which could ultimately destroy the reputation of that person.

I am thankful for the last twelve years.
Through all the laughter and the tears,
We are still in love.

Why is it that the economy is in the toilet, and the banks get bailouts while people continue to lose their homes? Well, could it be that the Bush administration was bought by those who were bailed out? The answer is Yes!

Well, my wonderful husband bought us a reprieve from foreclosure for a month. Well... two weeks actually, since the first of the month is right around the corner; but never mind that.

Well, I have just received my foreclosure notice from Citi Residential, the same company that would not accept a partial mortgage payment from me. They plan to go ahead with foreclosure if payment in full is not made by the end of this week. Since I have only $1.68 in my pocket, I guess I am going to be looking for a new place to live.

I would like to update you all on the progress that has been made since I made my cry for help. Remember, I wrote of a goal to sell 30,000 copies of my book, My Journey, A Lifetime of Verse; ISBN: 978-0-6151-6405-2, to save my home...

We all have challenges in life, ranging from the small to the very, very tall. It is important to remember that, at least in my opinion, everything happens for a reason, and that what doesn't kill you will make you stronger. I believe that if we let our challenges consume us, we are lost. We lose control of ourselves; we lose our power when we let the ngative circumstances of our lives become our primary focus.

(Nucla, Colorado October 23, 2008) Recently, the Nucla mayor, Roxanne Allex, submitted an emailed resignation to the board of trustees. Not real big news by itself, but there was a condition to her resignation.

The presidential elections a wrought with smear campaigns; just look at the McCain campaign's attacks on Obama. It seems that the pigs have plenty of mud to throw at their opponent, and they have been using a rocket launcher to blast it out there. Someone needs to clean the sty.

Recently, I wrote a letter, asking for help in saving my house. My plea was genuine, but someone has decided to play a political game of character assassination with me as the target, in response to my cry for help. I know who this person is, and I have filed a police report against them.

Gratitude In My Heart

Lately, things have not been looking so good for the citizens of this great nation, nor have then been good for my family. We are one of the many who may lose their home sweet home, since the collapse of our economy. We were doing okay, until Wall Street took a nosedive.

Can you believe it? We haven't even passed the Halloween marker yet, and I'm still experiencing 80 degree weather in the mountains, and my post office box is filling up with Christmas catalogs!

Christmas used to mean something special; now, however it means shopping! It's no longer about gift giving as much as it is about spending money; or shall I say, making money.

Recently, I sent out messages to just about everyone I know, asking for feedback on the newest Squidoo lens I'd created. Whereas I got many visitors to my lens, I got zilch in the feedback department. I don't understand.

There is no reason to be shy, especially if one is asked to give feedback. Even negative feedback is more desirable than none at all.

You know, I have written many things about the tiny town I live in; some of them negative, so I'd like to give you a different spin on my little town of Nucla, Colorado. The negative comentary I've written has been strictly political. Now I'd like to tell you about how I feel personally. There are two sides to a coin, and I think it is high time I let you see the other side. Fair enough?

When one starts a job, are they not expected to learn everything they can about that job, so that they can be effective in it? If one doesn't satisfactorily learn the job they've been hired to do,, don't they usually get fired?

Isn't it reasonable to assume that a doctor knows about medicine, a hairdresser about styling hair, a mayor of a town to know the law? You'd think so, wouldn't you.

I belong to many networking groups online. I joined these groups in order to find other business people who may be looking for a writer, or someone to help them market their business; to meet other professionals.

I joined and quit Facebook not too long ago, because it seemed like a huge waste of my time. Facebook is not a networking site; it is a meat market. It isn't the only social networking site that has attained meat market status either.

Youth is but a state of mind.
Age is but chronology.
Appearances may be deceiving.... providing nary a sign,
except perhaps in philosophy;
another facet of mind.

The mechanism will suffer wear;
it may run at a slower pace...
If given proper maintenance and care,
it'll not show on the face.

The clock will continue to tick,
so how will you use the time?
Will you spend it lonely and sick?
Or, celebrating each day, past joy, and each new mountain to climb?

I cannot count on both my hands and feet, how many times this happens to me, but this time I just have to say something about it. And I want to know if this happens to you too. I bet it does; why would I be so special...

I remember a time, about 15 years ago, when my eldest son would take a little crocheted bag to bed with him; this coin purse sized bag was filled with small polished rocks. He was given this bag of rocks, by his step-mother, to keep bad dreams away.

Being that I publish this ezine, I receive and read a lot of ad copy. Additionally, in marketing my business, I have joined many list building programs which utilize mailers. Don't get me wrong... I'm not here to bash these kinds of programs; on the contrary, I think they're an effective method of advertising, provided you know how to use them. It isn't this type of program that I want to talk about; it is the ad copy that people use in them.

Congress today announced that the office of President of the United States of America will be outsourced to India as of April 1, 2008.

The move is being made in order to save the President's $400,000 yearly salary, and also a record $521 billion in deficit expenditures and related overhead that his office has incurred during the last seven years.

It is anticipated that $231 billion can be saved to the end of the President's term.

“We believe this is a wise financial move. The cost savings are huge,” stated Congressman Thomas Reynolds (R-WA).

“We cannot remain competitive on the world stage with the current level of cash outlay,” Reynolds noted. Mr. Bush was informed by e-mail this morning of his termination.

Preparations for the job move have been underway for some time.

Gurvinder Singh of Indus Teleservices, Mumbai, India will assume the office of President as of April 1, 2008. Mr. Singh was born in the United States while his Indian parents were vacationing at Niagara Falls, NY, thus making him eligible for the position. He will receive a salary of $320 (USD) a month, but no health coverage or other benefits.

It is believed that Mr. Singh will be able to handle his job responsibilities without a support staff.

Due to the time difference between the US and India, he will be working primarily at night.

“Working nights will allow me to keep my day job at the Dell Computer call center,” stated Mr. Singh in an exclusive interview. “I am excited about this position. I always hoped I would be President.”

A Congressional spokesperson noted that while Mr. Singh may not be fully aware of all the issues involved in the office of President, this should not be a problem as President Bush had never been familiar with the issues either.

Mr. Singh will rely upon a script tree that will enable him to respond effectively to most topics of concern. Using these canned responses, he can address common concerns without having to understand the underlying issue at all. “We know these scripting tools work,” stated the spokesperson.

“President Bush has used them successfully for years, with the result that some people actually thought he knew what he was talking about.”

Bush will receive health coverage, expenses, and salary until his final day of employment. Following a two-week waiting period, he will be eligible for $140 a week unemployment for 26 weeks. Unfortunately he will not be eligible for Medicaid, as his unemployment benefits will exceed the allowed limit.

Mr. Bush has been provided with the outplacement services of Manpower, Inc. to help him write a resume and prepare for his upcoming job transition. According to Manpower, Mr. Bush may have difficulties in securing a new position due to a lack of any successful work experience during his lifetime. A greeter position at Wal-Mart was suggested.

I belong to a number of business/social networks. Some of them are more professional than others, but I've noticed a common problem in all of them.

Many people do not know how to post images and links. The end result is a bunch of raw HTML code filling up comment boxes everywhere.

If this is a challenge for you, please read on.

Let's call a spade a spade here, shall we? I've written about misleading subject lines in email solicitations before. However, I don't think that the word, 'misleading' does this sleazy marketing tactic justice. I've made a reputation for calling 'em as I see 'em, so I'm going to call them what they really are... PHONEY, BOGUS, I WANT TO GET YOUR MONEY, subject lines. Not to mention illegal as the day is long.

First off, I would like to apologize to everyone for not being as responsive as usual. I have not been ignoring anyone... really. Actually, I've been quite busy.

Has this happened to you...? The phone rings and the person on the other end announces that they are from a credit repair company, and they are calling to help you repair your credit and strengthen your credit score.

GBG - The Nutritional Drink/Business Opportunity Guided By God .

Today I received a sales pitch in my inbox for a program/product called 10 in 1, a nutritional drink. That is no surprise, since nutritional drinks are all the rage these days, but what did surprise me is the name of the company that manufactures and markets as an MLM: GBG, which according to the sales letter, stands for Guided By God. That name may suggest to some that the product is all natural, but I tend to think that it is just a ploy to instill trust in the company, more so than the product. A Google search clearly indicates that it is being promoted as a Christian business opportunity.

I am going to deviate from Internet marketing here, and write about something which has been troubling me for quite some time. The subject: Politics and government spending.

Here is a program that, like many others, sounds too good to be true. It is, as the sales page says, 100% free to join, and will have you earning thousands of dollars weekly. Hey! that's for me. They say there is nothing to buy, no telling or selling involved, no matrices to build, no expensive web sites to maintain, no constant recruiting required... It is the income opportunity made in heaven!

Social networking is all the rage these days. Internet marketers have been flocking to these types of sites in droves, hoping to make business connections and money, promoting their opportunities.

Are these networks for business or fun? Sometimes I have to wonder.

Student Ambassador, Jerimiah Maltby, Returns from Europe

Last fall, Jerimiah Maltby, was chosen to represent the United States, in Europe, as a Student Ambassador. From October of 2006, until the date of departure, Jerimiah went to monthly orientation classes, and worked to raise money for this adventure.

On June 28, 2007, Jerimiah boarded a plane, in Durango, to begin his odyssey. He landed in Munich, Germany, nine hours later, and flew on to Athens, Greece. This is where his journey begins. They, Jeri and some 40 other students, spent five days in Greece, and then they traveled to Italy, spending ten days there. While in Italy, Jerimiah got to spend three of those days, living with an Italian family.

While in Italy, Jeri repelled down a 100-foot fortress wall, in Assisi, visited the Vatican, and even found his own name tagged on a wall. In big purple letters, the wall says, “Jeris.”

From Italy, they took the train to France. While on the train, someone stole Jeri’s journal, so he has no written record of his travels, but he took many photos. France was the last leg of their adventure, and unfortunately, Jeri ran out of batteries for the camera, and got the fewest pictures of that country. However, the photos he did get are awesome.

I have been marketing online, for many, many years now. I have subscribed to many programs and newsletters, and I've downloaded many products, so of course, I have given out my email address to others. I regularly sign up for things, just to check them out, so I really need to have a system, in order to keep track of everything. And, I use email as little as possible, for communicating with people.

In 2005, the San Miguel Power Association [SMPA] urged the consumer/owners of the co-operative to vote to deregulate the power company. Their efforts met with success. San Miguel Power is no longer regulated by the Public Utilities Commission [PUC]. What exactly does that mean?

There are so many free to join programs available these days, all of them claiming to be huge money makers, but are they really? The more sales pitches I read, the more obvious it becomes that most sales pages and letters are targeted toward newbies. No offense is intended to the Internet newbies reading this. It is just a plain and simple fact that when someone is new to the Internet, particularly to making money online, they have a tendency to fall for just about anything.

I was just recently turned on to a newish online community for meeting likeminded people. It is a really awesome place. Business Entrepreneur Network is the name of it.

I am thankful to have a roof over my head, food in my pantry, meat in my freezer, and love in my house.

I am thankful for my husband; for all that he does, all that he is, and for who he strives to become. I am thankful that we will be celebrating 10 years together, very soon.

I am thankful for my children. They are as different as night and day, and I really wouldn't have it any other way. I am proud of them both.

I am thankful that I have the opportunity to take care of my mother, and have her live in my home. Though I was not an easy child to bring up, and we didn't always see eye to eye, it is good to have my mom as my friend.

I am thankful to be in reasonably good health. If I weren't healthy, I would not be able to fully appreciate all that life has to share with me: Sunsets, snow capped mountains, my family and friends; I am a fortunate woman.

I really have to laugh at John Q. American. You hear it all the time - Someone, somewhere, has had their constitutional rights violated, whether it be freedom of speech, the right to public assembly, or the right to practice religion in their own way. American's are really big on constitutional rights, and make a lot of noise about them.

So why then, do millions of Americans pay good money to have their rights stomped on by AOL?

Some of you have been a reader for a long time, and some of you are new to the Trii-Zine. Regardless of the length of time you have been reading, you have all come to know my name.

For those of you who have recently visited some of my web sites, you may have noticed a change in my name. I'd like to explain this and help with some of the confusion.

Well, well, well... I have just reported 12DailyPro to the FBI. After reading this, if you still think that 12DP is a legitimate company, you need professional help!

In my previous report on 12DP, I outlined my experience with them as of that writng. Well, things have gotten much worse, and the only thing I have to say about the way things stand right now is, thank God I didn't have more than $24 invested in their scam.

RECAP: I joined 12DP and paid them $12 for two upgrade units. I surfed the required sites to get 12% on my $12. They paid me $15.84. I bought two more ugrade units for $12. They would not permit me to surf the required number of sites for that upgrade period, and recorded my pending earnings as $11.32. (a loss)

I have submitted support tickets regarding these things, and have never gotten a response, except to tell me I contacted the wrong department.

This morning, I logged into my StormPay account to find that 12DP had retracted the $15.84 they paid me for the first upgrade period. That's right, they stole my money right out of my StormPay account!

Since they provide no direct way to contact them, hiding behind a private registration, I submitted a support ticket, and contacted the FBI. I will keep you posted on my dealing with them [FBI].

Close your stormpay accounts and get the Hell out of 12DP, before they steal your money too.

The latest rage on the net is the 12Daily Pro, paid for surf program. Everyone is raving about it. But, is it on the level? I have to wonder...

Several years ago, when I was still a bit wet behind the ears, I did a review on the Internet marketing program, ISORegister. ISORegister was brand new to the Internet then, and membership was a whopping $6.00 per month. It impressed me then, and it impresses me now.

A lot has changed since then... a whole lot!

Let's start out by me offering you an apology. What do I need to apologize for? Well, for not having reviewed Contact List Builder sooner.

You see, I have been a lifetime member of CLB for quite some time now. I've been so busy playing sponge to Janet Legere, soaking up as much information from her as I can, that I have neglected to give you the complete skinny on her program; how she can help you with your business goals.

It is high time to make ammends.

You know, change is good. Really, I mean that.

In the last couple of months, I have been going through some changes, both personally and professionally. I was feeling the signs of burn out, and decided that it was time to make changes in several areas of my life, in an effort to avoid total burn out.

Do you ever feel like you have too much going on? Does it ever seem like you are smack dab in the middle of everything, and you can't remember how you got there, or how you're going to get out?

I am a subscriber to Robet Puddy's Advertising KnowHow. Today I am going to share with you, something he wrote in his newsletter today.

I am posting it here because he says puts things very bluntly, and I am impressed with his stand. I also think that he is a very good mentor, and that anyone who has the opportunity to learn from him and work with him, should jump at it.

Have you ever heard that giving something away for free automatically makes people think it has no real value? That if something is free it must be junk?

Well I am here to tell you that is a big bunch of horse hockey! It is a sales ploy. It is a lie that you and everyone else have been told, for the express purpose of parting you with your cash.

I wonder if time moves more swiftly as we age. It sure seems that to me these days.

I am not preoccupied with the amount of time I've spent on this planet, as some people do as they approach 40. I don't have a problem with telling others my age either. ( I am 39.) Truthfully, I don't really think too much about age, or the progression of time; however...

When you think of comment spam, what comes to mind? Do you think of an automated thing-a-ma-gig that searches out RSS feeds and posts ads to them? Well, there is more to comment spamming than that.

Plenty of off line businesses market online. The Internet opened new doors for brick and mortar businesses in the area of marketing and advertising. The Internet put more people within the reach of business owners large and small. The Internet provides many with an outstanding ROI (return on investment).

The Weekend Update...

It is Monday morning, and I have what is known as a, "Karate Mom's Hangover." No alcohol involved, just a lot of work, and even more pride.

For the last couple of months, I have been helping my husband put together a karate tournament, for the academy that he and my oldest son attend. (AFKO Karate Academy) Neither of us have ever taken on a project quite like this before, so the whole situation was a learning experience for us. Jeff handled all of the organizational stuff, and of course, I did the promotional work.

Good in Theory... Pretty Lame Otherwise

Well over a year ago, I signed up for a program called LinkReferral.com. It happens to be one of a few programs I've joined, listed on my site, and forgot about. (Forgive me, but I am human...)

The program is a link exchange/site review deal, that is aimed at giving participants exposure for their own web sites. It is a great concept; not totally unique, but nevertheless, a decent enough traffic generator. If it works that is.

The Day My Son Stumped Medical Science

On May 22, 2004, my normally hyper-active 6 year-old had doctors scratching their heads in wonder.

Tanner, who had been running around, acting like an average boy of six, the day before, had become ill. He woke that morning complaining of a backache, and then a headache. As the morning progressed, he continued to sleep, and sleep and sleep. Finally, he vomitted, and I took him to the clinic, in the next town.

By the time we arrived at the clinic, my very articulate child was totally incoherent, babbling and not knowing where he was. He was also running a fever, and still not able to keep his eyes open for any length of time.

Tanner was hooked up to an IV for fluids, thinking perhaps he was severely dehydrated, and blood was drawn to be tested for any viral infection.

When his blood showed an extreme amount of white cells, the hospital in Grand Junction was called for consultation. The doctor in the ER ordered that Tanner be flown to Junction, 110 miles away, immediately. His symptoms indicated meningitis.

Maker to Pull Antidepressant Off Market

The maker of Serzone will pull the controversial antidepressant off the U.S. market next month, blaming a decline in sales rather than concern about a risk of liver failure.

The end to U.S. sales comes after Serzone was pulled off the market in many other countries, and as maker Bristol-Myers Squibb was under mounting pressure from lawsuits. Serzone has been linked to dozens of cases of liver failure and injury, including at least 20 deaths.

What Is An ISSN?

National Serials Data Program, Library of Congress International Standard Serial Number (ISSN)

The purpose of an ISSN is to identify a serial publication, by title, regardless of the country of origin, or language. This number is an eight digit serial number that always looks like: ISSN 1234-56789. The first seven digits represent the title number, and the eighth is a check digit, used for transcription errors.

Because serial publications are catelogued by title, if the title of a publication should change, a new ISSN must be applied for.

Publishers are not required to obtain an ISSN, but according to the Library of Congress, the advantages are as follows:

From a strictly mathematical viewpoint, it goes like this:

Ever wonder about those people who are into saying that they give more than 100%? We have all been to those meetings where someone wants you to give over 100%. How about achieving 103%? What makes up 100% in life?

Here is a little mathematical formula that might help you answer these questions.
