Using the Context Menus & LinksDisplaying the Context MenusThere are two Context Menus which are available in QuikView. You will see either the Folder Context Menu or the Link Context Menu, based on whether you right-click a category/folder or a channel/link. For Windows and Unix Users: Highlight then right click on the category, folder, channel or link upon which you wish to perform an action, and the appropriate Context Menu will appear. Please Note: This option is not recommended for Windows users.
Whichever method you use, the appropriate Context Menu will then be displayed, and will be similar to the screen shot to the right. Different actions will be available from the Context Menu based on the context in which you called it. Available actions in any given context will appear in white text and unavailable actions will appear in black text.
Link Context Menu
The Link Context Menu can be displayed using the same methods as noted above, either right-clicking a channel or link name, or using the Show Menu icon (for Mac users). This context menu is much shorter, as there are fewer actions available to perform on channels and links.
The context menu that you will see will be similar to the screen shot shown here. Available actions will appear in white text and unavailable actions will appear in black text, based on the context in which the menu was called. Actions available from the Link Context Menu:
Email Link This link will open a panel in your QuikView sidebar with a link to launch your default email program. If you click that link, it will launch your email program with a small pre-written email including a message and an active link to the url you are sending. The pre-written message is just a suggestion for the copy, you can edit or re-write it as you wish. Please feel free to write whatever you would like in your email message. While we don't necessarily like using email, unless we absolutely have to, sometimes this is the only way you can share information with some folks.
Copy Link To copy a link from one category or folder to another, right-click the link, then choose Copy from the context menu to use your computer's internal clipboard. Next, right-click the folder into which you would like to paste the link and click Paste on the Folder Context Menu. Please Note: You cannot copy a link into the same folder where the original link is currently located. Delete Link This action deletes the channel or link selected from the category or folder. A deleted link can be undeleted by choosing the Undelete action on the Folder Context Menu for the parent folder. Please Note: The Undelete action is only available as long as the category or folder has not been purged. Once a category/folder is purged, all information is lost, it's deleted contents are completely removed from the database and cannot be recovered. Properties The Properties panel allows you to change all information presently being used for that channel or link. All properties, including the URL, can be changed. However, unless the channel or web page you have bookmarked has been relocated, it is not a good idea to change the URL. Please Note: Both the name and description entered on the Properties panel for any channel or link is used by the internal QuikView search. Keywords and short phrases are recommended for the description in order to provide the most relevant search results. |
