Setting Your Preferences

To set your Preferences, just click the Preferences link in the User Menu, as shown to the left. That will launch the Preferences Panel, as shown below.

The Preferences Panel will show all the original information you provided at signup and allows you to change all your information except for your Email (Username).
Password - To change your password, enter your original password in the Old Password field, then enter your new password in the Password field and re-enter it in the Repeat Password field. Passwords must be at least five (5) characters long, are case sensitive and can contain numbers but no spaces. Click the Submit button to make the password change. Please Note: If you have forgotten your password, please contact QSupport for assistance.

Real Name - Please be sure your real name is available here. It will be necessary if you need personal support from Quikonnex.

Please Note: Though the Real Name you entered when you signed up for your QuikView account was used to create your base/root bookmark category, changing this field after you have signed up will NOT change the name of your base/root category. To change the name of that category, right click it and select Folder Properties from the Context Menu. You will be able to make any changes you like there.

Qname - If you are a Publisher or Member of Quikonnex, please be sure your Qname is available here. It is necessary to be sure you have access to the private areas of the system. If you are not a Quikonnex Member, just leave this field blank.

Please Note: When you become a Quikonnex Member or Publisher, it is extremely important to enter your Qname here to ensure that our system works properly for you.

The following settings can be changed at any time and one is especially important to Mac users. (See Show Menu Icon)

Skin At the present time we have only one skin available. We will be adding additional skins soon, and they will be available from this drop-down list when they are added.

Paste Mode allows you to change the way your copy and paste function works for your links. There are three modes available to you:
Ask - Displays a dialogue box each time you copy or move a link
Copy - Creates a copy of the link in another folder
Please Note: You cannot create copies of links in the same folder.
   Move - Moves the link

Please Note: The Copy and Move options will NOT ask you for confirmation of the copy or move before it is executed. Please select the mode you prefer from the drop-down list.

Favicon  Favicons are special graphic files ending with a .ico extension. If you have checked to "Use Favicons" in your Preferences, then you can enter the URL of a favicon.ico file that you would like to use with links you have added to QuikView. Typically, if a website has a favicon, it is placed at the top level of the site, so you should be able to enter the main URL for the website, add a slash and "favicon.ico" to the end of it.

For example, if you enter the URL to our Quikonnex favicon file:

http://quikonnex.com/favicon.ico

you will see a Quikonnex Q displayed next to the link. To learn more about Favicons please go to Favicon.com or HTMLBasix.com

Show Menu Icon is an important option to have selected for MacIntosh users. Checking this box will enable the display a small icon in front of links and folders in QuikView. This allows you to click on the icon to display the Context Menus which will allow you to add links and folders and change their properties, etc., versus requiring a right-click of the mouse to access the Context Menu. Please Note: This setting is NOT recommended for Windows users.

Skip Execution Messages Select this option in if you do not want to be asked to confirm the completion of every command which you execute.

Use Popups causes the actions such as moving and copying link confirmation dialogues to open up in popup dialogues boxes versus loading inline over the QuikView sidebar.
